"Since Cory discovered painting, his world has opened with color and confidence. He beams with pride when he is happy with his creation and he is always excited to learn something new. Though non-verbal, art provides an additional channel where he learns to express himself and pours out all his emotions. Each artwork becomes his voice, radiating pride and accomplishment."

When Cory was asked "What is your favorite fruit?" A few quick taps on his tablet later, he began this piece. It’s a direct, honest tribute to his favorite snack, captured with the same clarity as his typed messages.
[SOLD]Bubbles Bubbles

This was a breakthrough in physical control. Using the mushroom stamp sponges for the first time, Cory had to navigate the "weight" of his hand. I watched him find that sweet spot—pressing just hard enough to leave a perfect bubble without losing the shape.

This was Cory’s very first session in the studio. To be honest, we didn't know what to expect, but he jumped right in and finished this piece. His mum and dad were genuinely shocked at how well he did for his first time. Seeing their proud smile made it clear that this was a great start for him.
[SOLD]I Learn To Cut And Paste 1
[SOLD]RM500
40cm x 30cm

Mixed medium on canvas
We spent our sessions tackling the challenge of the square. It wasn't easy at first, but art is often about transformation. Cory used his scissors to deconstruct his initial work, and the look of pure satisfaction on his face when he created something entirely new from the pieces was better than any spoken word.

[SOLD]I Did Spiral For The First Time
[SOLD]RM400
30cm x 40cm
2026
Marker on paper (frame)
For a long time, Cory’s world was made of diagonal lines—consistent, familiar strokes. In these pieces, we worked on "finding the curve." Watching him break that habit to master the spiral was like watching him learn a new language of movement

Sometimes Cory prefers to work in complete silence, so he will remove his cochlear implant to help him focus. For this piece, he used one large brush to create repetitive "stamp" patterns across the page. He didn't need to type a message on his tablet to show he enjoyed the freedom of this process—his smile made it clear he was happy with the result.
[SOLD]It's Magic
[SOLD]RM400

Mixed medium on paper (frame)
After weeks of practicing spirals, the "magic" happened. Cory learned to hide shapes and then reveal them through layers of paint. When his peer, Marilyn, saw the magic and wanted to join in, Cory didn't need his tablet; a simple, welcoming nod said, "Okay, you can do it too."

Cory’s mum brought in some empty toilet paper rolls for him to use as stamps. He really enjoyed the "thump thump" sound they made as he pressed them onto the paper. When he finished the piece, he didn't need to type a message on his tablet; he just laughed and gave a big nod to show he knew he had done a good job.

Cory paints his "mood of the day." When the tablet isn't enough and short sentences can't capture the feeling, he turns to color. These abstracts are his most personal dialogues—vibrant, layered, and deeply expressive of the things he chooses not to say out loud.
